      Babies (birth to 1 year)

  • Encourage your baby to have time on the mat or the floor in a safe environment and supervised
  • Tummy time is very important to help strengthen your baby’s muscles to help with their general development.
  • Encourage activities on the floor so your baby starts to reach for things, tries to hold onto toys, pushes and pulls

Toddlers (1 to 2 years of age)

  • Try to spend at least 50% of your child’s awake time being active, these might be walking, pushing a toy, running, jumping, twirling, bouncing. Avoid prolonged periods being stationary, in the pram, high chair etc.
