BOTTLE/BUBBLE PEP TECHNIQUE

Bottle PEP is performed in sitting.
Supervision is required for younger children using this technique to ensure they don’t breathe in through the tube.
Take a slightly bigger breath in than normal (not through the tube) and breathe out through the tube for at least 3 seconds to produce bubbles in the water.
Repeat 10-20 times to complete one set.
Some children may use a timer for each set rather than count breaths, for example, blow bubbles in sets for 3 minutes.
Huffs and coughs are done every 1-2 sets.
Repeat sets as instructed by parent or prescribed in treatment plan.
